2024 Christmas Trends & Christmas Around Our Home

A lot of what's in this year for Christmas decor is actually pretty timeless since I can vividly recall seeing these things around my grandparents' home during the holidays growing up. Timeless or trendy, these pieces have made their way into my heart & our house this year! Welcome to Christmas in the Altimus Home ❤️

Nostalgic Christmas

Lit Trees - My mother-in-law gifted me a stunning vintage-esque stained glass tree last year that just plugs right into the wall. It quickly became my favorite holiday piece & this year I'm seeing a ton of these popping up! They’re kitschy, they’re nostalgic.

Villages - When I think back to the holidays surrounding my childhood, I instantly remember this old porcelain Christmas village my parents had. I was on the hunt for the perfect one this year & did finally stumble across one. I think we all collectively agreed to have more of a 90’s Christmas this season, right?! These fit the mold. There’s also been a big modern take on these villages with brighter more colorful options & of course full white for the minimalist.

Gingerbread Houses

The faux version of a gingerbread house, you know, the ones that won't mold after a few weeks got bigger & better last Christmas & we're pulling them out again. These were MADE for your kitchen space. They add just the right amount of whimsy & most of them even light up! We've begun collecting a couple of these & opted for the more neutral version with glitter for our kitchen hutch but there are endless colors, shapes & sizes.

Classic Reds

Our living room has plenty of earthy green tones so this year we’re leaning into the classic red & green combo. Other than our berry garland, we pulled this off with primarily red satin ribbon. It feels elegant but the draped ribbons on the metal candlesticks & wreaths keep it feeling very organic.

Other trends I'm loving:

Colorful tree lights - We don't have a set of these nostalgic beauties just yet but I think with this one, the bigger the bulb...the better. If you're not ready to commit to these on your tree just yet, our family has this adorable matching set of colored bulb Christmas PJ's & that's pretty close to the same thing.

Bows - Truthfully I'm just loving bows in general this year but the Holidays are where these babies shine. I love that a simple bow tied around a wall sconce or cabinet handle just dresses everything right up.

Candle Clusters - Tis the time of year for twinkling lights & candles. We don't have a grand staircase in our home but I’m seeing creators using pillar candles to adorn every step & its stunning. Clustered candles around the fireplace & a bunch of tapers all grouped together. Ahhhhh! On the plus side, it's really simple & affordable to pull off too.
